## Meet Origami, the creative toolchain for publishing

**Origami** is a new product from the team behind publica.la. It brings the technical and creative work of getting a book ready to publish — validation, accessibility, quality, metadata, conversions and AI-assisted creation — into one place, so your whole catalog can move through it without a production bottleneck.

The idea is simple: **drop in an ebook and watch it become ready to sell.** Origami runs the checks, shows you exactly what needs attention and — where the work is mechanical — fixes it for you. Results come back in seconds, and you can try the core analysis with no account and nothing to install.

## What Origami can do today

Origami already covers the production line most publishers stitch together from separate tools:

- **EPUB validation.** Runs epubcheck, the canonical W3C validator retailers and stores use, and turns its output into a report grouped by severity and tied to the exact spot in the file. If it passes in Origami, it passes with the stores.
- **Accessibility checking and AI repair.** Audits each title with Ace by DAISY against WCAG 2.1 AA and EPUB Accessibility 1.1, so you can see exactly where a file falls short of the European Accessibility Act — and repair the mechanical issues automatically.
- **Quality checklist.** Cross-references conformance and accessibility against the Qualebook checklist — 88 industry rules — to give you one clear verdict: ready, needs attention, or review by hand.
- **Metadata and ONIX.** Extract and enrich metadata, edit it, and export a clean ONIX file ready for your distribution partners.
- **AI descriptions.** Generate back-cover blurbs and store descriptions straight from the full text of the book.
- **Repair and conversions.** Fix broken EPUBs, optimize heavy assets, work with PDFs (diagnosis, accessibility, tagging, alt text) and convert PDFs into clean, reflowable EPUBs.

Every tool runs across your whole library, not one file at a time.

## Try it free, with no login

You don't need to sign up to see what Origami does. Drop an EPUB into the analyzer and get validation, accessibility, quality, metadata and an AI description back in seconds. Your file is processed securely and deleted automatically. Create a free account whenever you're ready to auto-repair, generate metadata and descriptions, and run the tools across your catalog.

## Free for publica.la customers

If you already publish with publica.la, **Origami is included at no extra cost.** Every publica.la customer with an active store gets Origami's Starter plan free, and your workspace is set up automatically — there's nothing to configure. Need more capacity? Higher plans are available to publica.la customers at preferential pricing, well below the public rate.

It's the same principle behind everything we build: you keep your catalog and your brand, and we take care of the technical work of getting books ready and out the door.

## What's coming next

Origami ships new tools every quarter, and the full creative suite is landing through 2026:

- **AI cover creator** — book covers designed with AI tuned for publishing.
- **Ebook to audiobook** — turn your titles into natural-sounding audiobooks.
- **Ebook translator** — translate full books into new languages while preserving their formatting.
- **Marketing campaigns** — ready-to-post copy and store banners generated from the book itself.
- **Illustrated books** — create illustrated titles with AI-generated artwork.

The vision is a book that can check itself, repair itself, describe itself, translate itself and market itself — with your team in control at every step.
