In a step towards inclusivity, we've introduced a new accessibility information module in every publication on our platform. This move aligns with our commitment at Publica.la to provide an accessible experience for everyone while adhering to the European Accessibility Directive (EU) 2019/882, which will be fully effective by June 28, 2025.
A Two-Part Accessibility Module
Our newly integrated module is thoughtfully divided into two sections:
Reader & Player Accessibility information: This section is dedicated to inform about the reading (eBooks) and listening (audiobooks) embedded accessibility features. It lists essential tools such as navigation options, zoom functionalities, and text-to-speech capabilities.
Content-Specific Accessibility Information: Available for publications delivered through the ONIX protocol, this part displays detailed accessibility messages tailored to each publication.
Key Features of the Accessibility information module:
You can find a new Accessibility information module on the product page:
Icon for Accessibility Options: A dedicated icon opens a modal with specific accessibility options for content formats like PDF, EPUB, and audiobooks.
User Interface Enhancements: Streamlined product page layout with unified icon colors and consistent modal appearance.
Display ONIX-based messages: Publishers' messages, including warnings and normative details, appear precisely as provided.
Design and Localization: Each message code includes localized titles to facilitate understanding.
The Path Forward
